  20. Hi, I discovered some nagging disconnects reported as "disconnect via front
  21. panel" on my Telebit Fastblazer 8840, particularly with transfers using
  22. Kermit and small packets.

  24. It turns out that 3 factors caused this situation:

  26. The "disconnect via front panel" reason can also apply to disconnections via
  27. EIA test leads
  28.  
  29. EIA test leads are enabled *by factory default*
  30.  
  31. I was using 25 pin cables

  33. Thanks to Mark Riley of Open Systems for the suggestion of AT*L0 to disable
  34. EIA test lead functionality.

  36. WHY would any manufacturer enable EIA test leads by factory default?
